The extension operates entirely locally on your device:
- GitHub page access: When you visit github.com, the extension reads the current page to help you select code locations. This data is processed locally and never transmitted to any server.
- Map file storage: Code Map files you create are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.
- Export: You can export your Code Maps as JSON files to your local filesystem. No data is sent to external servers.
4. Third-Party Services
GitGuessr Mapper does not share any data with third parties. The extension only interacts with github.com pages that you actively visit, and all processing happens locally on your device.
5. Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions:
- Access to github.com: Required to read code file contents and line numbers when you're creating Code Map locations
- Storage: Required to save your Code Map data locally in Chrome
6. Data Security
Since all data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to external servers, your data security depends on your own device security. The extension does not have access to any data beyond what you explicitly create within it.
